Welcome to Claudia's Blog....

this space is intended for a discussion of the body/mind connections and the far reaching affects they create in our daily lives. By becoming awake and aware, we can change our perceptions of our experiences, change the affect on our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual self and change our lives. We really can have what we want in life...and let's talk about HOW to do that....

Communication – What?

February 2nd, 2012

Sometimes it is a challenge just knowing where to start…and communication can get stalled in the quickest ways.   Petting a dog is communication.  If we reach for a dog and quickly pull back, we startle ourselves and the dog.  Then we have to begin again by calming ourselves and the dog.  It’s the same with people, we can always begin again and calm each other so we can speak and listen; hear and be heard.

A suggestion that has worked well is to ask the question.  Instead of making a statement you must then defend, ask a question you can discuss.  Read the rest of this entry »

Crash Course in Life Skills

December 25th, 2011

Often jobs at a ski area are a mini crash-course in Life Skills – from meeting the needs of our guests to connecting with fellow workers who can both come from all parts of the world with a myriad of perspectives and cultural views that differ from ours.  This is an opportunity to take our skills and awareness to the next level.   When we find ourselves triggered by a situation, the first recognition is that we get “into the story” and out of the present moment.  In the present moment there can only be perfection.  If we drag in the past we have old baggage that can make us feel sad, angry, depressed and victimized.  If we jump to the future we are full of fear, anxiety, panic, and feelings of overwhelm.  Often we have only moments to recognize this and shift our awareness because our personal interactions can be so brief.  What do we do?  Read the rest of this entry »

Transform Resistance to Resilience

October 31st, 2011

All negative emotions are a signal of resistance to “What is” in the world.  Sadness is resistance to Joy.  Anger is resistance to Love.  Depression is resistance to connection.  What would it take to transform this resistance to resilience and involvement in life?  Stress often feeds these self-limiting thoughts.  Stress comes in all shapes and sizes and can affect us emotionally, mentally, and physically.  Stress can cause disease Read the rest of this entry »

Cultivating Peace of Mind

September 28th, 2011

It can feel as if there is more than one thinking machine in our heads with the rapid fire, anxiety-ridden thinking process that comes to us during high stress.  Read the rest of this entry »
